(1) For the definition of “Commissioner of Police” in sub-paragraph (1) of paragraph 2 of the London Cab Order, 1934 , there shall be substituted the following definition:—
“ the Assistant Commissioner ” means the person, being an Assistant Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, for the time being appointed by the Secretary of State under section eleven of the Metropolitan Public Carriage Act, 1869, to grant licences under sections six and eight of that Act;
and for the words “Commissioner of Police” and “Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis” , where they otherwise occur in the said Order, there shall be substituted respectively the words “Assistant Commissioner” and “Assistant Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis” .
(2) Paragraph 3 of the said Order (which directs that the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis may grant licences under sections six and eight of the Metropolitan Public Carriage Act, 1869) shall be omitted.
