The Merchant Shipping (Certificates of Competency as A.B.) (Nigeria) Order 1964

Section 1

(1) This Order shall come into operation on the 21st May 1964, and may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Certificates of Competency as A.B.) (Nigeria) Order 1964.

(2) In this Order, the expression “ the Act ” means the Merchant Shipping Act 1948 .

(3) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

Section 2

Certificates of competency as A.B. granted in Nigeria shall have the same effect for the purposes of section 5 of the Act as if they had been granted in pursuance of regulations made under that section.

Section 3

Any provision of regulations made under section 5 of the Act applying section 104 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 to certificates of competency as A.B. granted under those regulations shall apply in relation to certificates of competency as A.B. granted in Nigeria.
