(1) This Order may be cited as the Industrial Training (Gas Industry Board) (Revocation) Order 1973.
(2) Article 3 of this Order shall come into operation on 1st April 1974.
(3) The provisions of this Order, other than Article 3, shall come into operation on 1st January 1974.
(4) In this Order—
(a) “ the Act ” means the Industrial Training Act 1964 and references in this Order to sections are references to sections in the Act;
(b) “ the Board ” means the Gas Industry Training Board;
(c) “ the Corporation ” means the body established under the Gas Act 1948 by the name of the Gas Council and named the British Gas Corporation by section 1 of the Gas Act 1972;
(d) “ the former employers in the gas industry ” means the Area Gas Boards, whose property, rights, liabilities and obligations were vested in the Corporation on 1st January 1973 by section 1(1) of the Gas Act 1972;
(e) “ the gas industry ” means the industry described in the Industrial Training Order;
(f) “ the Industrial Training Order ” means the Industrial Training (Gas Industry Board) Order 1965 .
(g) “ the remaining assets ” means any amount by which the assets of the Board immediately before 1st April 1974 may exceed the amount which has been required to meet the liabilities of the Board and the expenses of the winding up.
(5) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of this Order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament and as if this Order and the Industrial Training Order were Acts of Parliament.
