Section 1

(1) This order may be cited as the Housing Act 1974 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1974.

(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

Section 2

The provisions of the Housing Act 1974 specified in Schedule 1 to this order shall come into operation on 2nd December 1974.

Section 3

The savings contained in Schedule 2 to this order shall have effect.

Section 1

The bringing into effect by this order of the repeal of any provision of Part II of the Housing Act 1964 shall not affect the continued exercise by a local authority of their powers under that Part of that Act in pursuance of any representations under section 19 of that Act which have been made, or any preliminary notice under section 20 of that Act which has been served, before 2nd December 1974.

Section 2

Sections 57 and 59 of the Housing Act 1964 and sections 70 and 76 of and paragraphs 25, 26 and 27 of Schedule 8 to the Housing Act 1969 shall, notwithstanding the repeal of any of their provisions, have effect for the purpose of the continued exercise by a local authority of their powers under Part II of the Housing Act 1964 in accordance with paragraph 1 of this Schedule.
