Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Medicines (Termination of Transitional Exemptions) (No. 3) Order 1975.

(2) In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires, “ the Act ” means the Medicines Act 1968 and other expressions have the same meanings as in the Act.

(3) The rules for the construction of Acts of Parliament contained in the Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the purposes of the interpretation of this Order as they apply for the purposes of the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

Section 2 Termination of transitional exemptions from licences for wholesale dealing in certain medicinal products for human use

The 1st June 1975 shall be the day appointed for the purposes of subsections (2) to (5) of section 16 of the Act (transitional exemptions) as being the day upon which those subsections shall cease to have effect in relation to anything done on or after that day in so far as it consists of the sale or offer for sale by way of wholesale dealing of a medicinal product, other than a veterinary drug, which may be lawfully sold by retail otherwise than in accordance with a prescription given by a doctor or dentist, or from premises other than a registered pharmacy.
