Section 1

This Order may be cited as the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1977 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1978.

Section 2

In this Order “ the Act ” means the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.

Section 3

Sections 12 to 16 and section 17(1) and (2) of and Schedule 1 to the Act shall come into force on 1st January 1978.

Section 4

For the purposes of the enactments brought into force by this Order, references in sections 12(9) and 15(2) of the Act to “ the commencement of this Act ” shall be construed as meaning the commencement of those enactments.

Section 5

The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of this Order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
