The Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (Public Bodies) Order 1981

Section 1 Title and Commencement

This order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (Public Bodies) Order 1981 and shall come into operation on 24th August 1981.

Section 2 Interpretation

In this order:—

“ the 1970 Act ” means the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970, and

“ the Crown Agents ” means the Crown Agents for Oversea Governments and Administrations.

Section 3 Designation of Public Body

The Crown Agents, being a person appearing to the Secretary of State for the Environment and the Secretary of State for Wales to be exercising functions of a public nature, shall be a public body for the purposes of the 1970 Act in its application to England and Wales.

Section 4 Restriction of Agreements which may be entered into by the Crown Agents for the purposes of the 1970 Act

Agreements which may be entered into by virtue of this order shall be for the purposes only of the provision by a local authority to the Crown Agents of administrative, professional or technical services.
