Section 1 Citation and commencement

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Variation of Speed Limits) Regulations 1986.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the fifteenth day following the day on which they are approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.

Section 2 Amended speed limits

The provisions of Schedule 6 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 are hereby varied as follows:—

(1) in Part I:—

(a) in item 3, for the figure “50” in columns 3(a) and (b) (respectively the speed limit on a motorway and on a dual carriageway road not being a motorway) there shall be substituted the figure “60” ;

(b) in item 5(2)(a), for the figure “50” in column 3(b) (the speed limit on a dual carriageway road not being a motorway) there shall be substituted the figure “60” ;

(c) the following item shall be added in the Table:—

(2) in Part IV, in paragraph 2, before “articulated vehicle” there shall be inserted ““agricultural motor vehicle”” .
