Section 1 Citation

This order may be cited as the Health and Social Security Act 1984 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1986.

Section 2 Day appointed

1st July 1986 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Health and Social Security Act 1984:

(a) section 1(3), (5)(a), (6) and (7) and Parts I and II of Schedule 1 (optical appliances);

(b) the repeals in Schedule 8 relating to—

(i) sections 44(1)(c), 46(1)(e), 72(5)(a), 81(b), 82(b) and 83(b) of, paragraphs 1(2)(c), 2(2)(a) and 6(3)(e) and (5)(iv) of Schedule 5 to, and Schedule 12 to, the National Health Service Act 1977,

(ii) sections 26 (other than subsection (2)(c)), 29(1), 64(5)(a), 73(b), 74(b) and 75(b) of, and Schedules 8 and 11 to, the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978, and

(iii) paragraphs 2(2) and (4) and 6(2) and (4) of Schedule 5 to the Health Services Act 1980;

(c) section 24 so far as it relates to the repeals mentioned in paragraph (b) of this Article.
