These Rules may be cited as the Prison (Amendment) Rules 1987 and shall come into force on 13th August 1987.

Section 2
Rule 5 of the Prison Rules 1964 (which relates to remission of sentence) shall be amended by inserting in paragraph (2)(a)—
(a) at the beginning, the words “in the case of a sentence for a term of more than 12 months,” and
(b) after the word “imprisonment)”, the words “and in the case of a sentence for a term not exceeding 12 months, one-half of that total”.
