Section 1Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Building Societies Investor Protection Scheme (Maximum Protected Investment) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 1st October 1987.

Section 2Amendment of section 27(5) of the Building Societies Act 1986

In section 27(5)(b) of the Building Societies Act 1986 (amount of investor’s protected investment), for “£10,000” there shall be substituted “£20,000”.
