Section 1Citation and commencement
These Regulations may be cited as the Road Vehicles (Prescribed Regulations for the Purposes of Increased Penalties) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 1st January 1988.

Section 2Prescribing of regulations
The regulations of the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 1971 specified in column (1) of the Table below, the subject matter of which is briefly described in column (2) of the Table, are hereby prescribed for the purposes of paragraph (a) of section 37(3) of the Vehicles (Excise) Act 1971 (as set out in paragraph 24 of Part I of Schedule 7 to that Act).
