These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 1st January 1988.

The Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 1987
The Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1987 shall be further amended as follows—
in the Schedule, in Part IV
(a) the following shall be substituted for the words from the beginning of Part IV down to the end of service 3 of Section B
EXAMINATIONS CONDUCTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT FOR CERTIFICATES OF COMPETENCY AS AN OFFICER, AND OTHER SERVICES
Fees for examinations for certificates of competency as deck or marine engineer officer (fishing vessel).
Service
(1) For examination for a certificate of competency on each occasion on which a candidate presents himself for the practical oral part of the examination as—
(a) deck officer (fishing vessel) Class 1
(b) deck officer (fishing vessel) Class 2
(c) deck officer (fishing vessel) Class 3
(d) engineer officer (fishing vessel) Class 1
(e) engineer officer (fishing vessel) Class 2
(2) For examination for a sight test certificate where it is a requirement for a candidate for an examination for a certificate of competency as a deck officer (fishing vessel) in cases 1(a), (b) or (c) above and for the grant of a certificate to a person passing the examination
Fees for examinations for certificates of competency as master, deck officer or marine engineer officer (merchant ship).
Service
(1) For examination for a certificate of competency, where the written part is conducted by the Department of Transport, on each occasion on which a candidate presents himself for the whole examination as—
(a) deck officer Class 1 (master mariner)
(b) deck officer Class 2
(c) deck officer Class 4
(2) Where a candidate in case 1(a), (b) or (c) is examined in any part of the written but not in the practical oral part of the examination, or vice versa
(3) For examination for a certificate of competency where the written part is not or has not been conducted by the Department of Transport on each occasion on which a candidate presents himself for the practical oral part of the examination as
(a) deck officer Class 1 (master mariner)
(b) deck officer Class 2
(c) deck officer Class 4
(d) deck officer Class 5
(e) marine engineer officer Class 1
(f) marine engineer officer Class 2
(g) marine engineer officer Class 3
(h) marine engineer officer Class 4
(b) the following shall be substituted for the words in service 7 of Section B—
(c) there shall be added to section D the following paragraph—
(7) For the grant of a certificate of continued proficiency and up-dating of knowledge in respect of a certificate of competency or service
