These Regulations may be cited as the Slaughterhouses (Hygiene) (Amendment) Regulations 1987, and shall come into force on 5th February 1988.

The Slaughterhouses (Hygiene) (Amendment) Regulations 1987
In these Regulations the expression “the principal regulations” means the Slaughterhouses (Hygiene) Regulations 1977 and unless the context otherwise requires, any reference herein to a numbered regulation shall be construed as a reference to the regulation so numbered in the principal regulations.
Regulation 13 shall be amended by substituting for the words “fresh air intake or ventilation pipe” the words “opening of any ventilation pipe”.
Regulation 37(b) shall be amended —
(a) by substituting for sub-praragraphs (iv), (v) and (vi) thereof the following sub-paragraph:—
(iv) immediately after completion of bleeding all sheep and goats are completely skinned, save that —
(aa) any head not intended for human consumption need not be skinned if removed from the carcase at the time of skinning of the carcase;
(ab) when retention of the ears of sheep is necessary for certification purposes, they shall be removed immediately after certification; and
(b) by inserting in sub-paragraph (vii) thereof after the word “sheep”, the words “or goat”.
