Section 1Citation, commencement and interpretation

This Scheme, which may be cited as the War Pensions (Mercantile Marine) (Amendment) Scheme 1987, amends the War Pensions (Mercantile Marine) Scheme 1964 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Scheme”), and shall come into force on 6th April 1987.

Section 2Abolition of funeral grants

(1) The principal Scheme shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this Article.
(2) Article 19 (funeral grants) is hereby revoked.
(3) In Articles 22, 23 and 25 for the words, “gratuity or funeral grant” wherever they appear there shall be substituted the words “or gratuity”.
