Section 1 Citation

This Order may be cited as the Social Security Act 1988 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1988.

Section 2 Appointed day

The day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the Social Security Act 1988 specified below is 12th September 1988 —

(a) section 4 (income support and child benefit);

(b) Schedule 4, paragraphs 2 (employment and training) and 30 (overpayments), and section 16(1) so far as it relates to those paragraphs; and

(c) the repeal in Schedule 5 of paragraph 45 of Schedule 10 to the Social Security Act 1986 , and section 16(2) so far as it relates to it.
