Section 1Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Social Security (Employment Training: Payments) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 4th September 1988.

(2) In this Order, “Class 1 contributions”, “ primary Class 1 contributions ”, “ secondary Class 1 contributions ” and “ Class 2 contributions ” shall have the same meanings as in the Social Security Act 1975( ).

Section 2Treatment of payments for purposes of the Social Security Act 1975

No primary or secondary Class 1 contributions shall be payable, and no person shall be liable to pay Class 1 or Class 2 contributions, in respect of payments to any person in receipt of a training premium under provision made under section 2 of the Employment and Training Act 1973( ;) or section 2 of the Enterprise and New Towns (Scotland) Act 1990 , being payments under provision made under either of those sections in connection with his use of facilities provided in pursuance of arrangements, known by the name of Employment Training, under either of those sections ; and Part I (Contributions) of the Social Security Act 1975 shall be modified accordingly.
