Section 1 Citations, Commencement and Introduction

These Regulations may be cited as the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No. 7) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 1st January 1989.

Section 2 Citations, Commencement and Introduction

(1) The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 shall be further amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.

(2) The Secretary of State is satisfied that—

(a) it is requisite that the provisions of regulation 3 of these Regulations (being provisions which vary the requirements as regards the construction of certain classes of vehicles) shall apply as from 1st January 1989 to vehicles registered under the Vehicles (Excise) Act 1971 before the expiration of one year from the making of these Regulations; and

(b) notwithstanding that the said provisions will then apply to those vehicles, no undue hardship or inconvenience will be caused thereby.

Section 3 Amendments to regulation 8 (Width)

In the Table in paragraph (1) of regulation 8, “2·58” in column 3 of item 2 there shall be substituted “2·60”.
