Section 1
These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Ships' Names) (Amendment) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 1st December 1988.

The Merchant Shipping (Ships' Names) (Amendment) Regulations 1988
Section 2
The Merchant Shipping (Ships' Names) Regulations 1979 shall be amended as follows:
(1) After regulation 2 a new regulation 2A shall be inserted as follows:
(2A) In these Regulations “registry” and “registered” mean respectively registry under, and registered under Part I of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 .
(2) The proviso to regulation 3 shall be deleted.
