Section 1 Citation

This Order may be cited as the Health and Medicines Act 1988 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1988.

Section 2 Appointed day

1st January 1989 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 11(7) of the Health and Medicines Act 1988 and of section 25(2) of that Act so far as it relates to the following enactments:—

(a) in section 79(1) of the National Health Service Act 1977 , paragraph (d) and the word“or” immediately preceding it;

(b) in section 71(1) of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 , paragraph (d) and the word“or” immediately preceding it.
