The Strathclyde and Central Regions and Monklands and Falkirk Districts (Black Loch) Boundaries Amendment Order 1988

Section 1 Title and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Strathclyde and Central Regions and Monklands and Falkirk Districts (Black Loch) Boundaries Amendment Order 1988, and shall come into force on 1st April 1988.

Section 2 Interpretation

In this Order—

“the 1977 Regulations ” means the Local Government Area Changes (Scotland) Regulations 1977( ); and

“boundary map” means the map prepared by the Scottish Office, marked “The Strathclyde and Central Regions and Monklands and Falkirk Districts (Black Loch) Boundaries Amendment Order 1988 Map” and deposited in accordance with regulation 3 of the 1977 Regulations; and, in the Schedule to this Order, any reference to a boundary of a region is a reference to a boundary existing immediately before the commencement of this Order.

Section 3 Application of Regulations

Save insofar as they can have no application in relation to the area change effected by this Order, the provisions of the 1977 Regulations shall apply in relation thereto for the purposes of, or in consequence of, this Order.

Section 4 Area change

Part of Monklands District in Strathclyde Region containing an area of ground at Black Loch, being the area described in the Schedule to this Order and shown delineated and hatched on the boundary map, shall be transferred to Falkirk District in Central Region.

Section 5 Consequential changes of electoral arrangements

The area described in the Schedule to this Order (being the area transferred by article 4 of this Order)—

(a) shall cease to form part of electoral division 54 (Airdrie East) of Strathclyde Region( ) and of ward 12 (New Monklands East) of Monklands District( ); and

(b) shall form part of electoral division 34 (Avonside) of Central Region( ) and of ward 36 (Avon) of Falkirk District( ).
