The International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (Fees) Regulations 1988

Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (Fees) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 1st April 1988.

Section 2 Interpretation

In these Regulations “TIR design-type approval” means the approval of a vehicle design-type granted in pursuance of Annex 3 to the Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets of 14th November 1975 and “TIR vehicle approval certificate” means a certificate of approval issued for a vehicle in pursuance of that Annex.

Section 3 Fees

The fee for an inspection of a vehicle design-type in connection with the grant of TIR design-type approval shall be—

(i) £62 where the inspection is of a design-type which is variation of a design-type for which a TIR design-type approval has been granted; and

(ii) £380 in any other case.

Section 4 Fees

The fee for the issue of a TIR vehicle approval certificate for a vehicle which is of a design-type for which TIR design-type approval has been granted shall be £5.50.

Section 5 Fees

The fee for an inspection of a vehicle in connection with the issue of a TIR vehicle approval certificate shall be—

(i) £42 where the inspection is carried out following refusal of such a certificate for the vehicle; and

(ii) £60 in any other case.

Section 6 Fees

An application made to the Secretary of State for a TIR certificate shall be accompanied by the appropriate fee determined in accordance with regulations 3, 4 and 5.

Section 7 Fees

All fees received under these Regulations shall be paid into the Consolidated Fund.
