Section 1Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security Benefit (Dependency) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 11th April 1988.

Section 2Meaning of “week” for the purpose of calculating earnings

After regulation 5 of the Social Security Benefit (Dependency) Regulations 1977 there shall be inserted the following regulation—
Meaning of “week” for the purpose of calculating earnings
(6) For the purposes of sections 41 and 64 of the Social Security Act 1975 (beneficiary’s dependent children) “week” in the expression “has earnings in any week” means a period of 7 days beginning with midnight between Sunday and Monday.
