This Order may be cited as the Urban Development Corporations (Appropriate Ministers) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 9th June 1988.

The Urban Development Corporations (Appropriate Ministers) Order 1988
In Part XVI of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 “the appropriate Minister” means —
(a) in relation to the British Coal Corporation or any wholly-owned subsidiary of the British Coal Corporation, the Secretary of State for Energy; and
(b) in relation to British Shipbuilders and the British Steel Corporation or any wholly-owned subsidiary of either of them, the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry
and any reference to the Secretary of State and the appropriate Minister, in relation to those bodies, is a reference to the Secretary of State for the Environment and the Secretary of State mentioned in sub-paragraph (a) or (b), as appropriate.
