Section 1 Citation

This Order may be cited as the Health and Medicines Act 1988 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1989.

Section 2 Appointed day

27th February 1989 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 25(2) of the Health and Medicines Act 1988 (repeals) so far as it relates to the following enactments–

(a) sections 1 to 9, 11 and 12(2) and (3) of, and the Schedule to, the National Health Service Act 1966 ;

(b) paragraph 59 of Schedule 6 to the Superannuation Act 1972 ;

(c) sections 17 and 19 of the Health Services Act 1980 ;

(d) section 8 of the Health and Social Security Act 1984 ;

(e) in Schedule 2 to the Companies Consolidation (Consequential Provisions) Act 1985 , the entry relating to the National Health Service Act 1966.
