Section 1Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (Service Committees and Tribunal) Amendment Regulations 1989 and shall come into force for the purposes of regulation 2(3) on 1st October 1989 and for all other purposes on 1st February 1990.

Section 2Amendment of Regulations

(1) The National Health Service (Service Committees and Tribunal) Regulations 1974 are amended in accordance with the following paragraphs of this regulation.

(2) In regulation 2 (interpretation), for the definition of “dental officer” there shall be substituted:

“dental officer” means—

for the purposes of regulation 18 (investigation of record keeping), a dentist in the service of the Dental Practice Board , or of the Welsh Office, as the case may be, and

for all other purposes, a dentist in the service of the Department of Health, or of the Welsh Office, as the case may be;

(3) In regulation 14 (procedure on withholding money), for the words “the Deputy Chief Dental Officer” in paragraph (6) there shall be substituted:

(a) in the first instance where they appear, the words “his deputy (being a dental officer)”;

(b) in the second instance where they appear, the words “his deputy”.
