This Order may be cited as The Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (Exemption of Special Treatment for Lone Parents) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 19th December 1989.

The Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (Exemption of Special Treatment for Lone Parents) Order 1989
In this Order–
“child of that lone parent” means a person who for the purposes of any regulations made in pursuance of section 20(1)(a) of the Social Security Act 1986 is–
(a) a child or young person for whom that lone parent is responsible, and
(b) a member of the same household as that lone parent; and
“Employment Training” means the arrangements known by that name made under section 2 of the Employment and Training Act 1973 .
With respect to Employment Training, section 8 of the Employment Act 1989 shall apply to any special treatment afforded–
(a) by the making of any payment, in connection with the participation of a lone parent in Employment Training, to a person having the care of a child of that lone parent, or
(b) by the fixing of any special condition for the participation of lone parents in Employment Training.
