Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Employment Act 1989 (Amendments and Revocations) Order 1989, and shall come into force on 16th January 1990.

Section 2 Amendments and revocations

(1) The Regulations specified in columns 1 and 2 of Part 1 of the Schedule to this Order are amended to the extent set out in column 3 of that Schedule; and, for the purposes of the Regulations mentioned in this paragraph, the expression “school-leaving age” has the meaning–

(a) in relation to England and Wales, in section 10(6)(a) of the Employment Act 1989; and

(b) in relation to Scotland, in section 10(6)(b) of that Act.

(2) The Orders and Regulations specified in columns 1 and 2 of Part II of the Schedule to this Order are revoked to the extent set out in column 3 of that Schedule.

Section 3 Northern Ireland

This Order shall not apply to Northern Ireland.
