Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Time Off for Public Duties Order 1990 and shall come into force on 15th October 1990.

Section 2 Addition of boards of visitors and visiting committees

Section 29(1) of the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978 shall be modified by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (c) —

(cc) a member of, in England and Wales, a board of visitors appointed under section 6(2) of the Prison Act 1952 or, in Scotland, a visiting committee appointed under section 19(3) of the Prisons (Scotland) Act 1989 or constituted by virtue of rules made under section 39, as read with section 8(1), of that Act;
