Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government (Politically Restricted Posts) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 6th February 1990.

(2) In these Regulations “the 1989 Act ” means the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

(3) References in these Regulations to the area of the City of London, London boroughs, or districts are to the area of the councils concerned.

Section 2 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) The annual rate of remuneration specified for the purposes of section 2(2) of the 1989 Act in respect of full time posts shall be the amount shown in column 2 of the Schedule to these Regulations for the area shown in column 1 of the Schedule in which the duties of the post are principally discharged.

(2) The annual rate of remuneration specified for the purposes of section 2(2) of the 1989 Act in respect of full time posts where the duties of the post are discharged in more than one of the areas shown in column 1 of the Schedule but are not discharged principally in any one area, shall be theamount shown in column 2 of the Schedule for any one of the areas in which the duties of the post are discharged and where those amounts differ shall be the higher of those amounts.
