Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (PublicBodies) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 1st April 1990.

Section 2 Designation of public bodies

Each of the following bodies which is a person appearing to the Secretaries ofState to be exercising functions of a public nature shall be a public body for the purposesof the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970 in its application to England andWales:

The City Literary Institute;

Medway Housing Society Limited.

Section 3 Restriction on agreements which may be entered into

(1) Agreements which may be entered into by the Society by virtue of this Ordershall only be for the provision by a local authority to the Society of administrative,professional or technical services in connection with the management or maintenance bythe Society of houses situated on land transferred to the Society by a local authorityunder section 32 of the Housing Act 1985 .

(2) In paragraph (1)—

“houses” has the same meaning as in section 56 of the Housing Act 1985; and

“the Society” means Medway Housing Society Limited.
