Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Registered Foreign Lawyers Order 1991 and shall come into force on 1st January 1992.

Section 2 Solicitors Act 1974

Section 85 of the Solicitors Act 1974 shall have effect as if the references in that section to a solicitor included references to a person who is a registered foreign lawyer practising as a member of a multi-national partnership.

Section 3 Banking Act 1987 (Exempt Transactions) Regulations 1988

Regulation 8 of the Banking Act 1987 (Exempt Transactions) Regulations 1988 shall have effect as if the reference in paragraph (1) of that regulation to a practising solicitor included, so far as it relates to a solicitor who is qualified to act as such under section 1 of the Solicitors Act 1974, a reference to a registered foreign lawyer in the course of providing professional services as a member of a multi-national partnership.
