Section 1

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Northumberland that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

Section 2

In this Order—

“the deposited plan” means the plan numbered HA10/2—/N225 marked “The A1 Trunk Road (Brownieside De-Trunking) Order 1991”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY ;

“the new trunk road” means the new trunk road to be constructed by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the A1 Trunk Road (Brownieside Improvement) Order 1991 ; and

“the trunk road” means the London-Edinburgh-Thurso Trunk Road (A1).

Section 3

This Order shall come into force on 16th January 1992 and may be cited as the A1 Trunk Road (Brownieside De-Trunking) Order 1991.
