The Local Government Staff Commission (England) Order 1993
(1) On 13th May 1993 there shall be established, for the whole of England and for the purposes set out in section 23(1) of the Local Government Act 1992, a body to be known as the Local Government Staff Commission (England) (“the Staff Commission”).
(2) The Staff Commission shall consist of not fewer than 2 and not more than 9 members who shall be appointed by the Secretary of State; and the Secretary of State shall appoint one of the members to be chairman.
(3) Subject to the provisions of this article, a member of the Staff Commission shall hold and vacate office in accordance with the terms of his appointment.
(4) A person who ceases to be a member of the Staff Commission shall be eligible for re-appointment.
(5) A member of the Staff Commission may resign his office by notice in writing to the Secretary of State.
(6) The Secretary of State may remove a member of the Staff Commission from office if he is satisfied that he—
(a) is unable or unfit to carry out the functions of a member; or
(b) has not complied with the terms of his appointment.
(7) A person shall cease to be chairman of the Staff Commission—
(a) if he resigns as such by notice in writing to the Secretary of State; or
(b) if he ceases to be a member of the Staff Commission
