Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations, which may be cited as the Social Security (Claims and Payments) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 1993, shall come into force on 12th May 1993.

(2) In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires, any reference to a numbered paragraph, regulation or Schedule is a reference to the paragraph, regulation or Schedule bearing that number in the Social Security (Claims and Payments) Regulations 1987 .

Section 2 Amendment of Regulation 21

In Regulation 21 (direct credit transfer)–

(a) at the beginning of paragraph (3) there shall be inserted the words “Subject to paragraph (3A)”;

(b) after paragraph (3) there shall be inserted the following paragraph–

(3A) Income Support shall be paid in accordance with paragraph (1) within 7 days of the time determined for the payment of income support in accordance with Schedule 7.

(c) in paragraph (4) after the words “paragraph (3)” there shall be inserted the words “or (3A)”;

(d) in paragraph (6) after the words “family credit” there shall be inserted the words “unemployment benefit, income support, sickness benefit, invalidity benefit, severe disablement allowance”.

Section 3 Amendment of Regulation 21

In regulation 26(1) (income support) for the words “Schedule 7” there shall be substituted the words “Subject to regulation 21 (direct credit transfer), Schedule 7”.
