Section 1

This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Pollution by Garbage) (Amendment) Order 1993 and shall come into force on the fourteenth day after the day on which it is made.

Section 2

(1) The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Pollution by Garbage) Order 1988 shall be amended as follows.

(2) In article 2(1), for the words “for the purpose of giving effect to Annex V to the Convention” there shall be substituted the following words—

for the purpose of giving effect to—

Annex V to the Convention; and

amendments thereto adopted by the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization—

at its 30th Session by Resolution MEPC 42(30); and

at its 31st Session by Resolution MEPC 48(31).
