This Order may be cited as the Smoke Control Areas (Exempted Fireplaces) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 18th October 1993.

The Smoke Control Areas (Exempted Fireplaces) Order 1993
The classes of fireplace described in the Schedule shall, upon the conditions there specified, be exempted from the provisions of section 20 of the Clean Air Act 1993 (which prohibits smoke emissions in smoke control areas).
The incinerators shall be installed, maintained and operated in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions dated 2nd November 1992 and bearing the reference “Apollo 10–25– 50”.
The fireplaces shall be installed, maintained and operated in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions dated 1st January 1993 and, in the case of the Clearview models 650 and 750, bearing the reference “1/42” and, in the case of the Vision 500 model, bearing the reference “V1/42”.
The boilers shall be installed, maintained and operated in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions which, in the case of models HT60, HT70 and HT80, are dated 1st July 1993 and bear the reference “HT60/70/80”, and, in the case of model BB154/2V, are dated 1st September 1993 and bear the reference “9/93”.
No fuel shall be used other than wood, wood shavings, cardboard and polythene.
No fuel shall be used other than firewood which has been split, stacked and air dried.
No fuel shall be used other than cereal straw.
