Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Academic Awards and Distinctions (Queen Margaret College)(Scotland) Order of Council 1993 and shall come into force on 12th March 1993.

(2) In this Order “ the Act ” means the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992 and “the Institution” means Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh.

Section 2 Competence to grant academic awards and distinctions

(1) The Institution is hereby specified as competent to grant all such degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic awards and distinctions as may be granted in pursuance of subsections (2) and (3) of section 48 of the Act other than in respect of completion of a programme of supervised research.

(2) In the event that the name of the Institution is changed under section 49 of the Act, or under any other power, the competence to grant any of the awards and distinctions specified in paragraph (1) above shall continue to apply to the Institution as re-named.

Section 3 Revocation

The Academic Awards and Distinctions (Queen Margaret College)(Scotland)Order of Council 1992 is hereby revoked.
