Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Lanarkshire (Monklands) Enterprise Zones Designation Order 1993 and shall come into force on 1st February 1993.

Section 2 Interpretation

In this Order—

“the deposited map” means the map marked “map referred to in the Lanarkshire (Monklands) Enterprise Zones Designation Order 1993”, prepared in duplicate and signed by an Assistant Secretary in the Scottish Office Industry Department, of which one duplicate has been deposited and is available for inspection at the principal offices of Monklands District Council at Municipal Buildings, Coatbridge and of which the other duplicate has been deposited and is available for inspection at the offices of the Secretary of State at New St Andrew’s House, Edinburgh;

“the Scheme” means the Lanarkshire (Monklands) Enterprise Zone Scheme 1992 adopted by Monklands District Council by resolution dated 24th September 1992.

Section 3 Designation of areas as enterprise zones

The areas to which the Scheme relates, being the sites named as (1) Calder Street, Coatbridge, (2) Dunalastair and (3) Shawhead, Coatbridge, and which are shown on the deposited map and marked accordingly are hereby designated as enterprise zones.

Section 4 Effective date of designation

The designation of the enterprise zones referred to in article 3 shall have effect on 1st February 1993.

Section 5 Period of enterprise zones

The period for which the areas referred to in article 3 are to remain enterprise zones is a period of 10 years from the date when the designation takes effect.

Section 6 Definition of boundaries of enterprise zones

The boundaries of the areas referred to in article 3 are defined by the outside edge of the black delineating line in respect of each area shown coloured pink on the deposited map.

Section 7 Enterprise zone authority

Monklands District Council is hereby designated as the enterprise zone authority for the enterprise zones designated in article 3.
