Section 1

The Secretary of State is authorised to provide for the use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980—

(a) a special road along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Scheme (this special road being in this Scheme referred to as “the motorway”), and

(b) a special road along each of the routes described in Schedule 2 to this Scheme for the purposes of connecting the motorway with other highways at the places stated in that Schedule (these special roads being in this Scheme referred to as “the connecting roads”).

Section 2

The centre line of each of the special roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

Section 3

The special roads shall become trunk roads on the date when this Scheme comes into force.

Section 4

In this Scheme—

(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

(2)

(i) “the deposited plan” means the plan numbered HA16/1EC/59 marked “The A604(M) Motorway (Alconbury to A1(M) Section) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1993”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

(ii) “the special roads”means the motorway and the connecting roads;

(iii) “the trunk road” means the A604 trunk road as proposed to be improved by the Secretary of State.

(3) a reference to the “Side Roads Order” is a reference to the A604 Trunk Road (Alconbury to A1 Improvement) Side Roads Order 1993.

Section 5

This Scheme shall come into force on 14th December 1993 and may be cited as the A604(M) Motorway (Alconbury to A1(M) Section) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1993.

Section 1

Junction with the B1043 Ermine Street and Rusts Lane at Alconbury—

(a) A route from the southbound carriageway of the motorway to a roundabout to be constructed pursuant to the Side Roads Order (to connect with the B1043 Ermine Street and other highways to be constructed or improved pursuant to the Side Roads Order). The special road along this route is given the reference number 1 on the deposited plan.

(b) A route to the northbound carriageway of the motorway from a roundabout to be constructed pursuant to the Side Roads Order (to connect with Rusts Lane and other highways to be constructed or improved pursuant to the Side Roads Order). The special road along this route is given the reference number 2 on the deposited plan.

Section 2

Junction with the A1(M) motorway at Alconbury—

(a) A route from the northbound carriageway of the motorway to the northbound carriageway of the A1(M) motorway. The special road along this route is given the reference number 3 on the deposited plan.

(b) A route to the southbound carriageway of the motorway from the southbound carriageway of the A1(M) motorway. The special road along this route is given the reference number 4 on the deposited plan.
