Section 1

(1) This Order may be cited as the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (Fees) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 1st January 1994.

(2) This Order does not extend to Northern Ireland.

(3) In this Order “ the Act ” means the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.

(4) The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (Fees) Order 1992 is hereby revoked.

Section 2

The annual fee payable by the holder of a certificate issued under section 6 of the Act (scientific procedure establishments) in respect of any calendar year during the whole or part of which the certificate is in force shall consist of the fixed element specified in article 3 below and the additional element calculated in accordance with article 4 below.

Section 3

The fixed element shall be £122 payable on each occasion that an annual fee falls due.

Section 4

The additional element shall be £110 payable for each person who holds —

(a) a personal licence which specifies the establishment to which the certificate relates as the place where the licence is primarily available; or

(b) a licence which is treated as a personal licence under paragraph 1 of Schedule 4 to the Act and which names the establishment to which the certificate relates as the only or first-named place where the person is authorised to perform experiments,

at any time during the period to which the fee relates when the certificate is in force.

Section 5

The annual fee payable by the holder of a certificate issued under section 7 of the Act (breeding and supplying establishments) in respect of any calendar year during the whole or part of which the certificate is in force shall be £553 unless the place specified in the certificate is also specified in a certificate issued under section 6 of the Act.
