Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (Dental Charges) Amendment Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.

(2) In these Regulations, “the principal Regulations ” means the National Health Service (Dental Charges) Regulations 1989 .

Section 2 Amendment of regulation 4 of the principal Regulations

In regulation 4 of the principal Regulations (calculation of charges)—

(a) in paragraph (1), for “75%” there is substituted “80%”; and

(b) in paragraph (5), for “£225” in both places where it occurs there is substituted “£250”.

Section 3 Amendment of Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations

In Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (calculation of charge for the supply of appliance on referral), in paragraph 2(b)(ii), for “75%” there is substituted “80%”.

Section 4 Revocation

The National Health Service (Dental Charges) Amendment Regulations 1992 are hereby revoked.

Section 5 Transitional provision

Where, on or after 1st April 1993, appliances are supplied, or other general dental services are provided, in pursuance of a contract or arrangement for the provision of general dental services made before that date, the provisions of regulation 4(1) and (5) of and of Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations shall have effect in respect of that supply or other provision as if these Regulations had not come into force.
