Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as The Designation of Institutions of Higher Education (Scotland) Amendment Order 1993 and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.

Section 2 Amendment of the principal Order

In Article 2 of the Designation of Institutions of Higher Education (Scotland) Order 1992( )—

(a) the present text shall be renumbered as paragraph (1) of the Article;

(b) in the list of institutions in paragraph (1) the following names shall be deleted:—

Glasgow Polytechnic

Napier Polytechnic of Edinburgh

Paisley College of Technology

The Queen’s College, Glasgow

The Robert Gordon Institute of Technology;

(c) in that list (which is in alphabetical order) the following names shall be inserted at the appropriate places:—

Glasgow Caledonian University

Napier University

The Robert Gordon University

University of Paisley; and

(d) after paragraph (1) there shall be added the following paragraph:—

(2) The designation of an institution by paragraph (1) of this Article shallremain in effect notwithstanding any change of name of the institution sodesignated.
