These Rules may be cited as the Prison (Amendment) Rules 1993 and shall come into force on 5th April 1993.

In rule 99 of the Prison Rules 1964 , after the words “ “officer” means an officer of a prison” there shall be inserted “and, for the purposes of rule 38(2) of these Rules, includes a prisoner custody officer who is authorised to perform escort functions in accordance with section 89 of the Criminal Justice Act 1991 ;”.
