Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1992 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1993.

(2) In this Order—

“the 1979 Act ” means the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 ;

“the 1992 Act ” means the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1992.

Section 2 Appointed Day

1st April 1993 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the whole of the 1992 Act so far as it is not already in force , except for the following purposes—

(a) effecting the substitution, by section 4 of the 1992 Act, of section 5(8) of the 1979 Act so far as that substitution consists of the addition of a new paragraph (e);

(b) effecting the substitution, by section 4 of the 1992 Act, of section 5(9) of the 1979 Act so far as that substitution consists of the removal of that provision in its application to paragraph 7 of Schedule 2 to that Act;

(c) bringing into force in Northern Ireland subsection (2) of section 5 of the 1992 Act and section 17(4) of the 1992 Act in its application to that provision; and

(d) effecting the repeal, by section 16(2) of, and Schedule 3 to, the 1992 Act, of paragraph 7 of Schedule 2 to the 1979 Act.
