Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government (Direct Labour Organisations) (Competition) (Amendment) (England) Regulations 1994 and shall come into force on 1st April 1995.

(2) Expressions used in these Regulations which are also used in the Local Government (Direct Labour Organisations) (Competition) Regulations 1989 (“the principal regulations”) have the meanings which they bear in the principal regulations.

Section 2 Amendment of 1989 Regulations

In their application to local authorities and development bodies in England, the principal regulations are amended as follows.

Section 3 General highways work

(a) In regulation 6, the words from “if the value” to the end of sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph (1), and paragraph (2); and

(b) in regulation 8(1), the words from “if the estimated cost” in sub-paragraph (e) to the end of the regulation,

are omitted.

Section 4 Gritting highways and snow clearing

In regulations 7 and 9, paragraph (1)(b) is omitted.

Section 5 Consequential provision

In regulation 2(1), the definitions of “contractual highway work” and “relevant highway work” are omitted.
