Section 1 Citation

This Order may be cited as the Railways Act 1993 (Commencement No. 5 and Transitional Provisions) Order1994.

Section 2 Provisions coming into force

Subject to article 3 below, the following provisions of the Railways Act 1993 shall come into force on 15th July 1994:

sections 139 and 140;

section 152(3) for the purpose of bringing into force the provisions of Schedule 14 referred to in this article;

in Schedule 14, the repeals relating to section 8 of the Railways Act 1974 and section 36 of the Transport Act 1981 .

Section 3 Transitional provisions

(1) The repeal of section 8 of the Railways Act 1974 shall not affect the operation of that section in relation to any application for grant made pursuant to that section before 15th July 1994 but in respect of which no decision has been made by the Secretary of State before that date.

(2) The repeal of section 36 of the Transport Act 1981 shall not affect the operation of that section in relation to any application for grant made pursuant to that section before 15th July 1994 but in respect of which no decision has been made by the Secretary of State before that date.
