Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Fire Precautions (Sub-surface Railway Stations) (Amendment) Regulations 1994 and shall come into force on 1st January 1996.

Section 2 Exemption from requirements

Regulation 12 of the Fire Precautions (Sub-surface Railway Stations) Regulations 1989 is amended—

(a) in paragraph (1) by inserting—

(i) after the words “regulations 4(1) and (3), 5(4) and (5), 6(1) and (3), 7(1), 8(2)” the words “and (3)”, and

(ii) after the words “they may” the words “, subject to paragraph (1A),”; and

(b) by inserting after paragraph (1)—

(1A) A fire authority may not exercise their powers under paragraph (1) above in such a way that there would be in effect at the same time in respect of particular station premises exemptions from requirements of regulation 5(4) or 6(1) and from requirements of regulation 8(3).
