Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Vehicle Licences (Duration of First Licences and Rate of Duty) (Amendment) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st January 1995.

Section 2 Revocation

The Vehicle Licences (Duration of First Licences and Rate of Duty) (Northern Ireland) Order 1986 is hereby revoked.

Section 3 Amendment of 1986 Order

(1) The Vehicle Licences (Duration of First Licences and Rate of Duty) Order 1986 shall be amended as follows.

(2) The following article shall be inserted after article 1—

Extent

(1A) This Order shall extend to England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

(3) In article 2—

(a) for the words “the Vehicles (Excise) Act 1971” in paragraph (1) there shall “the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 (“the 1994 ”)”;

(b) for the words “section 13 of the Act of 1971” in paragraph (2)(a) there shall be substituted “section 9 of the 1994 Act ”;

(c) the word “or” immediately following paragraph (2)(a) shall be omitted; and

(d) paragraph (2)(b) shall be omitted.

(4) In article 3(1)(b) for “£35” there shall be substituted “£50”.

(5) The following paragraph shall be substituted for paragraph (a) of article 4—

(a) an amount ascertained in accordance with section 4 of the 1994 Act;

(6) The first two lines of numbers given in the table in the Schedule shall be revised as follows—
