Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands (Amendment) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 17th July 1995.

Section 2 Amendment

Section 4 of the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands Order 1985 is hereby revoked and replaced by the following:

Office of Commissioner

(4)

(1) There shall be a Commissioner for the Territories who shall be appointed by Her Majesty by Commission under Her Sign Manual and Signet and shall hold office during Her Majesty’s pleasure.

(2) During any period when the office of Commissioner is vacant or the holder thereof is for any reason unable to perform the functions of his office those functions shall, during Her Majesty’s pleasure, be assumed and performed by such person as may be designated by a Secretary of State.
